Welcome

Partners in Preservation of Lincoln State Monument is a non-profit organization developed to support, through fund raising events and volunteers, the unique Lincoln State Monument.

You will feel that you have stepped back into the late 1800’s when you visit Lincoln, NM or as it was originally named, Calle la Placita de Rio Bonito. You can almost hear the gunfire of the participants in the Lincoln County War. You almost feel, that if you turn your head quickly, you might catch a glimpse of Billy the Kid as he rides down the street. You will occasionally see ladies and gentlemen, dressed in period clothing, strolling along the boardwalk in front of the Tunstall Store. The buildings still reflect the ambiance of the 1880’s.

Partners in Preservation of Lincoln State Monument is diligent in supporting the work of the staff of Lincoln State Monument. The funds raised by membership, fund raising events and the many volunteer hours are essential in supporting special projects needed to keep Lincoln State Monument a “must visit” for anyone who enjoys the history of the old west.

We welcome you to Lincoln, New Mexico home of the Anderson Freeman Visitors Center Museum, The Lincoln County Courthouse Museum, the Tunstall Store Museum, the Torreon, the Montano Store, the San Juan Batista Mission, Dr. Wood’s house and much more.

A visit to Lincoln, New Mexico is your opportunity to step back into the past.
